Riga Tumbler

(1934 Ideal)

Origin: Latvia, the city of Riga in the early 19th Century. Regarded as one of the modern equiviliants of the four varieties developed by the fancier Kosin of Moscow in the 18th Century. Related to the Kiev Tumbler and the Voronesh White Breasted Tumbler.

Size: Medium.

Body and Carriage: Slender, upright carriage that seems to prop on the tail.

Head: Well proportioned, elongated, fairly narrow and bony. With or without a peak
crest.

Forehead: Of medium height, steeply rising after the beak and rounded, top flat skull.

Beak: Long, thin, flesh colored and slightly downset.

Wattles: Smooth, not large.

Eyes: Large, bull.

Eye Cere: Of medium size, white and smooth.

Throat: Short, rather thin and well carved.

Neck: Of medium length, slender, wide at the breast and tapering to the head.

Breast: Of medium width. Well rounded, prominent and slightly uplifted.

Back: Long and sloping towards the tail. Forming a straight descending line to the
tail.

Belly: Long, of an oval shape.

Body: Longish, egg shaped.

Wings: Long, strong and tightly fitting to the body whith the tips resting on the tail.

Tail: Long, well packed and of 12 to 14 retrices.

Feet: Short, groused, with hock feathers. Muffs are not aspired for. Toes small with
white nails.

Plumage: Smooth and tightly fitting to the body.

Colors and Markings: White, Black, Blue, Red and Yellow. Milk colored: slate gray
and elder colored. All colors pure and with white bars.

Markings: Self with white bars. White with colored shields and white bars. Tail marked. Colored with white tail and white bars.

Faults: Heavy deviations from standard.
